Book Report on novel or non-fiction book.

My book is ____________________________________________________________

This book report will be based on a novel or non-fiction book that you will select or may be recommended for you. You will need to read the novel and then prepare the following book report. The report will be due on _____________________, but you may turn it in anytime earlier. This report must be typed.

______1. Title page with the title “Book Report on _______ (your novel) centered in the middle, Times New Roman type. Then, underneath that write the name of the author. Please put your name, date, and period number centered at the bottom.

______2. The first paragraph of your book report just explains when your novel takes place.

_____3. You will then include three to five quotes from your book, and the page numbers of those quotes, that reflect the relevant sport that your novel deals with. HOWEVER, if your novel is not completely sports related (ie. My Life in Dog Years), you will need to choose three to five quotes from the novel best reflecting the “setting” or “mood” of the novel. DO NOT do two sets of quotes.

_____4. List the main characters of your novel, and a general description of them, along with one quote that reflects their characters. You will need to adapt this if you are reading a non-fiction book. For most of the books we are reading this will be between 2-5 characters.

_____5. Draw a novel plot of the main events in your book, with a brief line about what happens. You will include the beginning, the rising action, the point of highest suspense (climax) and the falling action. These are the things you have learned about in your English classes. Once again, if you are reading a non-fiction book, you will need to adapt this.

_____6. Write at least one paragraph about what you found to be the most interesting part of your novel. This paragraph may also include your reflections about what you learned.


_____7. Final paragraph. Give an honest assessment of your novel and rate it on a scale of 1-10. In this assessment you may want to include what you didn’t like or did like about the novel and whether you would recommend it to others.
